Community

Our parish intersects with many parts of the wider community. We welcome interaction with groups and individuals. Our facilities offer safe places to meet.

Other ways we are active within the community

Children Running

SRE

Special Religious Eduction is authorised in schools by the NSW government. In our district it takes place in three primary schools, with student participation approved by parents.

At Cobargo Public School the children are taught by members of our congregation. At Bermagui and Quaama Public Schools SRE is taught by other denominations. Teaching the love of Jesus is probably the single most important thing we can do and we aim to do everything we can to keep this going.

Pastoral Care

We have many forms of Pastoral Care. First and foremost, we pray for those in need according to requests received. To be included in our weekly prayer list please email Vanessa Williams on cobargoangliocan@bigpond.com

Our OK Shed is a great source of pastoral care. It helps with loneliness by providing a chat and a cuppa for both volunteers and customers. For those in financial need we provide access to a pantry where food/supplies can be had. Food (Woolworths) vouchers are given to some and vouchers from the OK Shed are provided to those who may need clothes or items to help furnish their accommodation.

The OK Shed is also in partnership with a catering company in Bermagui which provides meal vouchers to those in need. Read more about our OK Shed here

Financial Help

Financial help can be a very important part of pastoral care. As a parish we give a percentage of our ‘giving’ to charities, either local community charities such as the local branches of the RFS, Surf Life Saving, Red Cross or Marine Rescue as well as to charities in and outside of Australia, depending on need at the time.

We choose one or two charities as our Mission(s) for the year. Recently we have given to: Anglican Overseas Aid, Barnabas Fund, Care Australia, Anglicare, Bush Church Aid, Angel Flight.

Popular annual and periodic community events

All we do in the Anglican Parish of Cobargo, Bermagui and Quaama is centred on Christ’s commandment to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, and to love our neighbour as ourselves.

Who We Support

The Parish financially supports local community endeavours as well as overseas aid organisations. Support for local individuals in need is practically actioned through the OK Shed Op Shop which offers a limited amount of food vouchers, pantry items and restaurant meal vouchers.

Ok Shed Pantry for those in need

Support Us

We welcome donations for the Ok Shed Op Shop of ALL kinds, from good quality second-hand goods to non-perishable food items for the Ok Shed Op Shop Pantry. We also welcome volunteers to come and join our warm and wonderful community at the OK Shed Op Shop.

Your support for us helps us support others, As with all Anglican churches, we are entirely self-sufficient financially. The income from the offertory and OK Shed pays for our Minister, OK Shed Manager/ Parish Administrator as well as the myriad costs of running the parish and maintaining buildings etc.

It is our goal to have a full-time Minister one day. We are currently looking to hire a 5 day a week minister. Your financial support would be much appreciated.
